Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyWed Jul 10, 2013 5:13 am

Seth grumbled as he felt the familiar pull in his mind as a soul called out to him. It was like a small dizzying feeling that washes over you and blurs your eyes for a few seconds. He hated Monday’s. It seemed everyone and their dog decided to die on this day. Between suicides, old age, and insane accidents from people rushing their way to work it didn’t seem like he was going to get a break. Thank god he didn’t have to fetch the bloody animals souls too.
He had just returned from Colorado where he had fetched a ninety year old man who had been living alone. It seemed, in his half-awake state at three in the morning he decided to mosey his springy ass down stairs for some water and found himself sprawled out dead at the base. Seth had found him as a spirit hovering over the sink trying to lift a glass from the drying rack. Poor thing probably didn’t even notice he had died. After transporting him to limbo to be processed with the other pitiful spirits he returned back to his living room not expecting to stay there long.
Even though he had been offered many time to move up into the luxurious living quarters up above he had turned it down decided to stay with his step brother instead. The man owed a simple two story house, decorated in mute colors and simply furnished. Seth didn’t always get along with the man but he found it more tolerable then being surrounding by the death and bliss that presented itself with the upstairs home.
A sigh escaped him as he prepared himself to go fetch the new soul that began tugging harder against his vision. Getting to annoying to ignore, and if he continued to it would turn into a fierce headache. “Bloody humans.” He mumbled, once again cursing Monday’s.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyThu Jul 11, 2013 12:26 am

Rika stood there paralyzed, her hand still stretched out before her. The woman had just been there hadn't she? The woman she had met on the bus. The woman who had just joked about her husband's uncleanliness. The woman whom she had just tried to pull back. But it was too late. She had stepped out into the street before the light changed and had gotten hit. Rika's hand lowered to her body and her gaze fell to the pavement. The streaks of fresh blood drew her in and she stepped towards where the woman's body lie. A crowd of people pushed and shoved past her, running to the woman's aid. A man shouted, pleaded for someone to call a paramedic but his words just translated into a dull ringing noise in the young girl's ears. With the gathering of the crowd Rika could hardly make out her form, but she caught a glimpse of her hand. The woman's fingers tensed to form a weak fist before finally relaxing, probably forever.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyThu Jul 11, 2013 2:35 am

The woman who had just been hit sat up slowly bewildered by what was happening. She seemed to look at the people gathered around her but she didn’t seem to understand what they were saying nor what was fully happening. A flickering of light caught her eyes and she looked down to notice that it was her giving off a pale blue hue. Her hand rose and it was translucent and looked like the smoke that lingered from a blown out wick on a candle. That was when everything seemed to hit her. She knew that she was sitting above her body, without the need of looking down for conformation, and she knew her body had been hit by a truck which had put it in the horrid torn position that it lay. Even with the realization of her death she didn’t seemed to react in any way. Just simple got to her feet and stepped forward, passing through a man who was bent down next to her. That was an odd feeling, going through another person, but she noticed that she really hadn’t felt anything at all. She stopped and turned to finally look at what once had been her, still was her she guessed and found herself captured by the disturbing picture, unable to draw her eyes away.

Seth landed with a flush of his long black wings on top of the stop light post and bent to peer down at the gathering crowd that now surrounded the body. He could hear the faint sirens of an ambulance calling from a couple streets down, it would be here soon to call the time of death and to gather the woman’s body up. “Pretty nasty accident.” Seth called casually to the smoky blue form of the woman, as if it wasn’t her body that lay deformed and blooded before them. There was no point in watching his words, he knew, human’s became serene after there death making the transition easier on everyone he supposed.

He took a step forward, as if there lay a sidewalk before him, and began to slowly descend to stand next to the ghost. His eyes seemed to also be captured by the death as he watched all the human’s rambling around the body. Many cried out in horror at seeing what had happened, others took the accident up as their reasonability ushering other people that walked by to keep going and cars to go around, causes a nice circle of bodies that hid the dead woman from innocent bystanders views. Suddenly his eyes fell on a young woman with dark waist length hair who stood stock still at the end of the sidewalk that lead into the street facing the panicked human’s. He guessed she was in her late teens or early twenties, but he wasn’t positive on it, guessing human’s age was never his strong point, his species did not age as quickly as the humans did. Take himself for example, he was nearly 600 years old but his appearance was that of a human around twenty years of age. His brows scrunch together when he noticed the girls eyes seemed to be looking at him, he shook his head thinking how silly it was to think she actually was. Living human’s could not see him.

Seth was brought out of his thoughts when the ghost woman finally drew her eyes away from herself and to him, they were dull blue orbs looking to be only half seeing him. “It’s time to go then,” his right hand reached out for her palm up and he gave her a warm smile, one that would cause many girls to swoon over him. The smile brightened his face, making his pale skin look less spooky and pasty, his lower lip was slightly thicker then his upper and the expression hinted at dimples if it was full bloom.

The woman took his outstretched fingers, hers fluttering over his solid skin casting a blue light against him as she stepped closer, accepting what was about to happen fully and seemed to be giving him back a smile. It was hard to tell with ghost though, their figures where to see though to really see what she looked like. His wings shot out and it seemed the people that should have been in the way suddenly moved aside unknowingly to allow the space. The black feathers ruffled from the wind that was brought by the red ambulance as it screeched to a stop and two men rushed out, brushing the people out of the way as they brought a stretcher. He pulled the woman closer, ready to take her before she got distracted with what was happening and her spirit pulled towards her body again. It happened sometimes when they see their bodies being moved, as if they become scared suddenly of loosing it. If that happened then it could take a while to get her to come with him and he really didn’t have anymore time to waste on the woman. He was ready to get back to him house and take a break, if he was lucky he could kick back his feet and watch some tv.

Suddenly he noticed the dark haired girl from a moment ago and as he saw her eyes still on his he had the same feeling as if she was watching him, as if she could see what was happening but was too shocked, by fear or wonder, by what she was seeing to move or call out. He turned his head to look behind him, hoping to see something else that she would be watching but he didn’t see anything. He quickly turned back, his green eyes locking with hers in a confused expression, “What are you looking at.” He said, but it was more of a thought he had accidentally voiced then an actual question directed at the girl.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyFri Jul 12, 2013 2:38 am

It was very easy to say that in the 17 years of her young life Rika had never seen anything like this before. This was the sort of thing that happened only in movies. Supernatural beings visiting the human world, either bringing peace or the more terrifying prospect of a war. She struggled to swallow the lump that was beginning to form in her throat. Maybe he was an angel, the bird like wings that were folded against his back hinted at the possibility. Heavenly creatures were supposed to be white and pure though. Ethereal beings that brought a certain calming presence, a sort of knowing that you were in safe, kind hands. He had the same kind of calm about him, but his wings were black. Not translucent and shimmering like a raven's. A rich pure black which she felt she would get lost in if she were to touch them.

The ringing in her ears finally dulled and faded out only to be replaced by the wailing of the siren. She swallowed again. The lump in her throat growing ever larger as her mouth began to go dry. Did he just speak to her? Her head cocked slightly and her black hair shifted and fell over her shoulder in a wave. She squinted, her violet eyes were caught in the piercing gaze of his green eyes. “You...” She said meekly almost in a whisper. She licked her full pink lips then bit them gently, a meager attempt to moisten them before repeating a bit braver this time. “I'm looking at you.” The ambulance loaded the body and took off down the street towards the hospital and silence now hung between them.

Was she not supposed to see him? She thought feverishly. Judging by the look of disbelief on his face she assumed she wasn't. The autumn air began to pick up and swirl about them, whipping rusted leaves across the ground. Her hair was flung about and she reached a hand up to tentatively tuck it behind her ear. She straightened her form, trying to keep her trembling knees from knocking together.

Seth didn’t hear the girl when she first spoke out. Her voice was soft and the sirens still blared behind them making it hard to hear much at all but he had seen her lips move. Seen that she had reacted when she heard his words and at that moment he knew she could see him. There was no doubt in it as she spoke up the second time and he heard her answer him with a stronger voice. He was speechless, not honestly sure what he was suppose too do. Never in any history of his kind had he heard of a human being able to see them. So immersed in his shock over the girl he didn’t even notice the wispy hand of the ghost as it pulled from his hands and sored after the ambulance with a scared face that faded in and out by the movement.

A strong sweet smell hit him when the wind that blew past her smacked him with a full force. His wings caught the wind and tilted upwards and he had to quickly tuck them behind him losing a few feathers in the process. He took a step towards her, bending in her direction in curiosity, “How can you see me?” He continued to step towards her, towering over the girl even though he was bent forwards slightly, “Are you a demon?” He walked around her, studying her carefully, looking for anything abnormal that would stick out. A tail, scales, claws, anything that would show that she wasn’t human and explain how she could see him. The circling ended as he stepped back in front of her and rose back to his full height. His eyes were piercing into hers now, demanding an answer.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptySat Jul 13, 2013 3:50 am

Rika stood rigid as the man circled her still form. She could feel his eyes wandering over every inch of her body. What exactly was he looking for? She turned her head to watch him as he finally came around to face her again. She couldn't help but to shrink back at his towering form as he leaned over her. "I don't know.." She stammered, intimidated by his height and piercing eyes. She was just as bewildered at the idea as he must be.

A man who had seen the accident and had to attempt to help the woman before she took her last breath stared at Rika curiously. "Ma'am!" he called out as he trotted off the street and onto the sidewalk to speak directly to her. Sweat beaded his brow and he panted softly, clearly exhausted by this evenings events. "Who are you talking to?" He grabbed her arm just above her elbow to turn her towards him.

Rika hesitantly turned towards him not wanting to take her eyes off the man who so clearly didn't belong. She shrugged at his question and turned her head back to glance at the creature who now stood behind her.

The man sighed and reached over and brushed his hand against her forehead checking for a temperature. She jerked away slightly startled by the unwelcome touch. "Poor girl." He muttered with a click of his tongue and a shake of his head. "I'm going to take you to the hospital too. I do believe you're in shock." and with that he began to gently tug the reluctant girl to his car.

PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyTue Jul 16, 2013 5:10 am

Seth noticed the other human with irritation. He thought for a moment to let the man take the girl but he had questions for her and he wasn't going to get any answers if she was dragged off to some hospital. With a sigh he closed his eyes and stepped towards the man and his wings tucked against his back and faded from view. He concentrated hard on changing his appearance and to become visible, it wasn't someting he was suppose to do but he had the power all the same. The long white coat he had worn shrunk into a plain black school jacket and his pants into the dressy uniform type. The long black marks that ran from his eyes to his jaw disappeared, leaving his face smooth and pale. He opened his emerald eyes and laid his hand on the man's arm that was grasping the girl. "Wait. I'll take her. She's a friend." He didn't bother looking at the man as he easily pulled his arm away and dropped it. Taking the girls upper arm he turned her away and stared down at her. "Are you ok? Tell me what happened?" He questioned her, keeping up the appearance until the human left.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyTue Jul 16, 2013 11:04 pm

The man eyed the boy suspiciously but what could he do? Their uniforms matched and they seemed about the same age. It probably was for the best that the girl was with someone she knew, but he was a little sad that not once, but twice he wasn't allowed to play the hero. He puffed up as he relinquished the girl to him. “Well..Alright.” He said as the two of them walked off. “But you really should get her to a doctor!” He called out just as they slipped out of ear shot.

She struggled to hide the panic that was bubbling in her stomach and she placed her free hand over it in an attempt to settle it. Was she getting kidnapped? The way she was getting passed around felt a like a kid's game of hot potato, but she was not appreciating her position in it all. She wasn't quite sure who she wanted to go with the least, but when the man who towered over her snaked his long white fingers around her arm she knew; She much preferred the hospital.

She stared straight ahead not wanting to look at the new man who was dragging her along. “I told you,” She stopped abruptly and snapped her arm away from him, much harder than necessary “I don't know anything.” She whispered harshly. “And I don't want to go anywhere with you”

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyWed Jul 17, 2013 4:33 am

Seth turned on her in a flash his face only inches from hers and his unworldly green eyes glaring, "I'm not giving you a choice." His mood had changed completely now that they were alone and his body radiated with a dark demonic pressure. In a second his grip was back on her upper arm and he jerked her closer. His shock at being seen by her was gone and it was replaced by the anger of loosing his soul and the annoyance as he felt the tug of another against his mind. He didn't have time to deal with this human, demon, whatever she was. He was about to say something when a sharper pull hit him and he closed his eyes to settle the feeling. Fucking Mondays.

He wouldn't be able to deal with this human until he finished with his job. Letting go he opened his eyes and stepped back, his demeanor calm once more. “Your free for now.” A loud whoosh sounded as black wings shot out from his back and spread themselves behind him. A dark small crossed his features as they shifted back, “Run home little girl.” The black wings swung down and he was gone. Off to fetch the soul he had lost, he would have to come back for the woman later.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyThu Jul 18, 2013 12:17 am

Rika yelped as she was jerked forward, and she could already feel the fresh bruise that was forming on her arm. She peeked up at him too scared to protest any further and she only nodded slightly at his command. Her curious eyes widened when he closed his to dull whatever sensation was causing him discomfort and her instinct was to reach out and offer solace but her hand that had outstretched itself quickly recoiled and settled firmly against her chest. Whatever was bothering him was giving her time to get away, to go home, to hide. Even though she had the horrible sinking suspicion that she wouldn't be safe from him anywhere.

When his powerful wings spread out to their full breadth and beat down on the air propelling him up, she brought a hand up to shield her eyes from the debris that rose with him. And almost as quickly as he had arrived he was gone.

She stood there a moment allowing the air to settle before taking a small shaky step towards home. She took a few more before quickly regaining her composure and she sprinted for home.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyThu Jul 25, 2013 1:39 am

It was midnight and Seth could not have wished it to come sooner. The day had been terribly busy and even though he was immortal with the strength near that of a god, he was exhausted and would have given anything to go home and pass out on the couch, maybe even throw in an episode of the walking dead he had missed yesterday. Just because he was an angel of death didn’t mean he didn’t enjoy a little human programing.
The only thing that stood in the way of him and the plush brown leather of the couch at home was the human that he now had to deal with. She had caused him to take twice as long getting the soul he had went to fetch upon meeting her, causing a splitting headache from the pull of others deaths. He had been behind the rest of the day so the headache had lingered through the rough day, causing him to be even more irritated then he normally was. He thought of just going and taking the girls soul out but that was against the rules, and he wasn’t about to go against them. But he couldn’t leave her alone either. Something about her was strange but weirdly familiar. As if he had met her before, or someone just like her. The fact that she could see him was also strange. He hadn’t sensed that she was anything but human.
With and irritated twitch of his brow he took a step forward and suddenly stood over the dark haired girls bed. She looked to be sleeping peacefully and that just pissed him off more. With a hard kick to the side of the bed he called out loud and angry, “Get up Human.”

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyThu Jul 25, 2013 11:17 pm

Rika had been enjoying her sleep it had taken her hours to finally drift off. While at times it was a restless one, it was still sleep. She felt haunted by the scowling face of the white haired angel. She didn't understand how such an innocent face could twist itself to be so cruel and the bruise on her arm reminded her never to cross him again.

She had gone to bed thinking about him, worrying about when he'd show up again and what he was exactly...Now her dreams were playing cruel tricks on her too, one moment she'd be going about a normal day and then suddenly he'd be there. Images of him and the woman's body from earlier flashed behind her eyelids. Her dreams had just shifted back into a seemingly normal scene when there was a sharp jolt which jerked her awake.

With a gasp she bolted upright a move she had instantly regretted. Her eyes fixed on the tall man who loomed over her bed and she scrambled to grab the kitchen knife she had recently hidden under her pillow. She cautiously rose to her knees never allowing her amethyst eyes to leave his. She held her knife out towards him threateningly as she crawled backwards to opposite side of the bed. “How did you get in here?” She demanded, her voice still thick with sleep.

Seth stepped back, brows rose in surprise by the response he had got from her. He hadn’t expected such an aggressive response and it drew a loud deep laugh from his throat. With a couple steps his shins hit against the bed’s edge and he reached out unafraid and pushed the blade aside as he slide his left leg onto the bed, “That won’t hurt me.” The girl amused him and he couldn’t contain a playful smile from stretching across his face, his headache and irritated mood now forgotten.

Rika's cheeks burned with embarrassment, she didn't expect to be intimidating but she wasn't expecting him to openly mock her either. She shifted back as he moved onto her bed, mirroring his moves but moving backwards. She brought the knife back in front of her "Just tell me what you want" She asked a little defensively, still ruffled by the sound of his laughter. She paused a moment suddenly aware of the state of her undress and she jerked the blanket out from under his knee hard and used it to cover herself. She was sleeping in her usual shorts and tank top but it was way too revealing of an outfit for someone she hardly knew, or could trust.

Seth chuckled at the girls shy display with her red cheeks and the way her hand tightly gripped the blanket covering her. He sat back with one leg still over the bed and watched her, his eyes still twinkling with amusement. "I'm just wondering how it is a human, one that still breaths, can see me. Could you be a demon?"

"A demon?" Rika asked as her arm lowered the knife and her face turned into one of bewilderment. "You woke me up in the middle of the knight to ask me if I was a demon?" She was mad now "I have a test tomorrow!" She shouted but quickly quieted down in order to not wake her roommates. "I have a test" She repeated in a harsh whisper. Her foot stomped on the ground for emphasis. "If anyone here is a demon it's definitely you!" She raised the knife again this time to jab at the window "You need to get out"

Seth only chuckled as he stood from the bed and began to wonder around her room. He stopped a few times to fiddle with a book that lay on her desk. He picked it up, thumbing absentmindedly through the pages before shutting in, “I’m not really a demon.” His black wings appeared behind him and he stretched them and cocked his head back to look at her, “just an angel of death. Completely separate things.” He placed the book back down and continued his slow circle around the room, fiddling with more things on the way.

Rika shut her mouth which had fallen agape when his wings stretched out with a shudder. "Just an angel of death?" She scoffed nervously "You say it like it's no big deal." the knife in her hand lowered to her side. She was getting tired of holding it and right now he wasn't near as threatening as before. She tucked it into the waistband of her shorts and carefully laid her blanket back down on the bed. She watched as he went through her things and she moved towards him and gingerly pushed his wings aside so she could stand next to him.

She tensed when she saw what was in his hand and she quickly snatched it from his hand. "Do you have to be so nosy?" She almost shouted

Seth's wing's folded easily with her hand and he turned his head to look at her. He watched her with curiosity when she grabbed the necklace he had picked up only seconds before. His gaze stuck to the object for a few breaths before rising to meet her eyes. “I feel like I know you. Are you positive you human?” He crossed his arms and watched her quizzically. Why was she so familiar to him?

After setting the necklace delicately back into it's spot she finally rose her gaze to meet his. "Yes I'm sure." she huffed and her eyes narrowed slightly "And I don't like you implying otherwise." She turned more towards him and her gaze softened "Why does it bother you so much anyways? I can't be the only person to be able to see you. What about mediums and psychics?"

Seth rolled his eyes and huffed, "They have demon in their bloodline, maybe only a small amount but they are not fully human." He turned away from her and moved back over to the bed, sitting and stretching one leg out. "They are also all documented as being non-human and I know the location of everyone. You are not on that list." He tilted his head, "could you have angel blood? Or were you resurrected by a witch? Dying and being brought back would explain your sight. But then I would have met you when you had died." His brows furrowed as he continued to puzzle over her.

Rika stood staring at him as her tired brain was trying to process all the information he was giving her. She had never imagined that the stuff she had read in fiction novels or seen in movies could possibly be real, And yet there was an angel, correction; angel of death lounging on her bed. She leaned back against her dresser and she began to puzzle over herself. She had never seen anything unusual before. No ghost sightings when she was younger, although even if she had the fear would probably prevent her from making the talent into an actual hobby. "It's probably just a fluke." She stated simply.

Seth watched her as he had been doing most of the time since he had come into her room, a burning feeling of recognition still itching at him. Noticing the tiredness that was laced behind her words when she spoke he decided he had stayed long enough and it did not seem that he would get any more information from the girl, if she herself even knew anything. She truly seemed to be confused herself by the way she was puzzling over his questions and accusations.

Seth stood from her bed taking only a few strides with his long legs to reach the window in her small bedroom and turned to her chuckling lightly, “I don’t believe things such as this happen by fluke. But I’m afraid I don’t have any more time to waste on questions that will get no real answers. My job doesn’t afford such luxurious time.” That was a lie though. Another angel had already taken over his shift, leaving him time to spend at home and finally ending his Monday workload, but she didn’t need to know how the system worked. He stepped backwards and into the window seal, keeping his eyes locked with hers the whole time, and spread his wing in the cold night wind, “but do not think this is over human. You will see me again.” With that said he ducked his head so as not to hit it on the wood of the window and leaned back to fall silently out of the window and disappear into the darkness of the night.

A smile played on his lips as he opened the door to his house and stepped inside. He had been playing with the human because he did plan to see you, and soon. Making his way over to the couch he sat and flipped the tv on, once again flipping through the saved shows on the dvr. He was in a rarely good mood that lasted right up until he heard the familiar footsteps in the kitchen, announcing the presence of someone who could kill any good mood he could possibly ever be in. With a sigh he hit the power button and stood, maybe it would be best to call it a night.

Day Of The Dead Empty
PostSubject: Re: Day Of The Dead   Day Of The Dead EmptyMon Aug 26, 2013 2:39 am

Rika rushed to her window and peered out into the darkness, the night wind picked up her hair and the loose strands tickled her face. He had disappeared again.

---

The library was quiet except for the audible groan of one girl. Rika slumped down at the table, her forehead now resting on the book she was just attempting to take notes from. Midterms were looming over her, especially English. She hated analyzing those old beaten up stories, who really cared what Shakespeare thought in what, 1975? She turned her head to the side and through her hair she could peer at the rows upon rows of books. At least her study group would be in soon, socializing seemed to make studying a lot easier. Even if all she focused on was the former.

“This looks boring.” A drawl came across the table of books. Seth sat in the bench looking through the tons of books that were piled up. He had just finished taking a soul when he decided to come and bother the girl again while he had the free time.
